چکیده

Interface agents are computer programs that provide personalized assistance to users with their computer-based tasks. The interface agents developed so far have focused their attention on learning a user’s preferences in a given application domain and on assisting him according to them. However, in order to personalize the interaction with users, interface agents should also learn how to best interact with each user and how to provide them assistance of the right sort at the right time. To fulfil this goal, an interface agent has to discover when the user wants a suggestion to solve a problem or deal with a given situation, when he requires only a warning about it and when he does not need any assistance at all. In this work, we propose a learning algorithm, named WoS, to tackle this problem. Our algorithm is based on the observation of a user’s actions and on a user’s reactions to the agent’s assistance actions. The WoS algorithm enables an interface agent to adapt its behavior and its interaction with a user to the user’s assistance requirements in each particular context. q 2006 Elsevier B.V. Personalizing web services by reasoning about interaction protocols

In this work, we argue the importance of including in the emerging standards for web service descriptions also the high-level communication protocol, used by a service to interact with its clients. We will motivate this claim by setting web services in a multi-agent framework, where web services are implemented as software agents that interact with other agents, the personal assistants, used to...

Agent Technologies for the Development of Adaptive Web Stores

With the increasing popularity of Web shopping, the per-sonalization of the front-end of on-line stores has become a critical issue: these systems are accessed by customers with diierent backgrounds, expertise and preferences; therefore, their usability can only be improved by personalizing their interfaces to the needs of each speciic user. In this paper, we describe the architecture of SETA, ...

An Agent Enabled System for Personalizing Wireless Mobile Services

Handheld wireless devices such as cellular phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) have limited memory, storage, and processing power. In addition, small screens and limited input facilities make entering information tedious. It is therefore important that wireless mobile applications optimize resource usage and minimize input effort imposed on the user. One way is to download to the clie...

Reasoning about Interaction for Personalizing Web Service Fruition

In this work, we argue the importance of including in web service descriptions also the high-level communication protocol, used by a service to interact with a client. We will motivate this claim by setting web services in a multi-agent framework, in the same line of that research area from which the DAML-S language derived. In our proposal, interaction is interpreted as the effect of action ex...

MOBILE WEB SEARCH PERSONALIZATION USING ONTOLOGICAL USER PROFILE by KAPIL GOENKA

by KAPIL GOENKA (Under the Direction of I. Budak Arpinar) ABSTRACT Most present day search engines have a deterministic behavior in the sense that they return the same search results for all users who submit the same query at a certain time. They do not take the userʼs interests and preferences into account in the retrieval process. Integrating user context in the retrieval process can help del...
